Join the Armada!

Never played rugby? Good! We'll teach you!! All you need to do is come to practice; either touch practice or a regular practice session. You just need to tennis shoes or rugby boots/cleats, shorts, a t-shirt you don't mind getting dirty or ripped, a mouthguard for when you intend to get physical, a bottle of water, and a willingness to learn. For most of our guys, this was their first contact sport and they love it! It's very addictive. The Armada is based on a principle of inclusion, so no matter your age, physical fitness condition, sexual orientation, color, we will tackle you just the same!



We also exist as a social club. Some would say, we're drinkers with a rugby problem as beer and having a good time seem to follow us. The club members often have social events outside of the normal match-day drinkups which include going to happy hours, birthday and holiday parties, and other random celebrations. Joining the club is akin to joining a fraternity, right down to receiving your team nickname.

Our club has three different levels of membership. Each of these membership levels entail different commitments, both monetarily and in time. Choose the membership that's right for you. You don't have to decide immediately. Some folks try rugby and decide they don't like it. But once you're committed, join the Armada at one of the below levels. All Memberships are good for one year from October 1st to September 30th. Payments can be made via cash, personal check or PayPal. You may also contact the Treasurer at treasurer@sdarmada.org directly with any questions you might have.

Club Membership Levels

ADMIRAL MEMBER

Full Playing Membership
$220.00 (per year) or $25.00 on a monthly basis.
Includes the following:
  • Registration with SCRFU, and all fees
  • Eligibility to participate in regular matches, tournaments, practices, and third-halves as part of the Club
  • Full access to the Armada coaching/training staff
  • Full voice and vote in all Club decisions
  • Eligibility to hold office within the Club and participate in Club administration
  • Eligibility to attend any Armada RFC-sponsored events
  • Full access to the Club's player website, including discussion board, players resources and rosters
  • Eligibility to participate in any Club committees
  • Discounts on Armada merchandise
Does NOT include:
  • Registration with USA Rugby (CIPP)    Get your CIPP
  • Personal jerseys - Club provides game day jerseys and socks
  • Rugby boots (cleats), shorts, and related uniform expense
  • Personal items for med kit other than standard supplies
  • Additional optional equipment such as head gear or shoulder protector
  • Non-Club-Sponsored social functions

The Armada has an in-season and an off-season. In-season generally runs from October to April with a winter break in December to accommodate the holidays. Off-season is all other times. While in-season, we hold full practices twice a week. The actual days and times are determined that season per pitch availability and maximum player availability. On Sundays, we hold touch rugby so that you can put into practice some of the basics of the game and socialize with the rest of the team.

Off-season is a special time. Just because we're not playing any league games, does not mean that we don't play other teams. We often play other IGRAB teams in our area in scrimmages. Also, we have touch rugby twice a week: Sunday and Wednesday. Off-season is a time when we do fundraisers, player recruitment, and hold many socials.
